Organic Vodka Time

The Revolution Greens team agrees with the other green party people out there - Its better to drink organic. A new organic vodka has hit the market and this one is from the heartland of the United States. The fifth-generation of family distillers who run the Phillips Distilling Company have turned a new, green page with the recent release of Prairie Organic Vodka. This corn-based vodka is certified organic and kosher(Shalom). All of the corn used in Prairie is grown by a co-op of 900 farmers in and around Benson, Minnesota where the vodka is produced. From the corn to the stills to the bottling, Prairie is organic and has reduced the environmental impact of production significantly. Party time people!!!!!!! Drink it up. Find Out How Toxic Your Food Is

As we get more and more Revolutionaries joining us, we have found people REALLY want to know what they are eating. Here is a website that we have been using here at the Revolution Greens headquarters and it is quite shocking. What’s On My Food is a brand new searchable database launched by the Pesticide Action Network. This incredible site will give you the inside scoop on exactly what chemicals are on the food you eat. With just a click of the mouse, you can view the toxicology risk and known pesticide residues on everything from almonds to oats to winter squash .

This site is broken down in to four categories. It details each pesticide’s risk to human health by placing each chemical in one of the following toxicological categories:

Carcinogen
Hormone Disrupters
Neurotoxin
Developmental/Reproductive Toxins

The first item we looked up was applesauce and we were shocked to see it contained 28 different types of pesticides. That little extra cash for organic doesnt look too bad now. Check out the website below

Meat Free Mondays

Dont worry people we are back from our little hiatus and coming back daily. Thanks for all the emails and questions over the past couple weeks. We are kicking off our first post in a couple days with Meat Free Monday. Sir Paul McCartney has followed in the footsteps of the world's leading climate scientist and a small Belgian town by calling on people to go meat-free one day a week and cut carbon emissions. Backed by celebrities ranging from Chris Martin to Sheryl Crow, McCartney today launched his Meat Free Monday campaign asking households to cut out meat on Mondays and slow global warming. Last year the world's leading authority on climate change, Dr Rajendra Pachauri, told the Observer that going meat-free once a week was the "most attractive" way for individuals to reduce emissions. Sir Paul McCartney said, "I think many of us feel helpless in the face of environmental challenges, and it can be hard to know how to sort through the advice about what we can do to make a meaningful contribution to a cleaner, more sustainable, healthier world," said McCartney. "Having one designated meat free day a week is actually a meaningful change that everyone can make, that goes to the heart of several important political, environmental and ethical issues all at once." Why not join the Revolution Greens team and go meat free once a week. Check out the video and link to the website.

The New Way to Eat Pizza: Green Box

We love finding creative solutions to life's simple problmes. The video below shows just that. e.c.o., Incorporated is marketing its first product, the Green Box, a pizza box manufactured from 100% recycled material. The top of the Green Box breaks down into convenient serving plates, eliminating the need for disposable plates. The bottom of the Green Box converts easily into a handy storage container, eliminating the need for plastic wrap, tin foil, or plastic bags. We love the idea and hope that all the big chains see the genius in it that we do.

Biodynamic Farming at a Winery.

The Revolution Greens team is always intrigued by the use of Biodynamic Farming. In the video below Mike Benziger describes how his winery does not use any type of pesticide and depends solely on biodynamics. Hopefully this practice continues to spread and we wont have to worry about what poisons are on our food when we buy them at the store. Have a great Monday Revolutionaries.
